We are talking about one of the most hazardous day for any relationship, namely Valentine’s day. Every other day like birthdays , Christmas, even mother’s day is the pressure this high to get an unequalled present totally thought out and presented by the husband, who mostly have no clue.
We women somehow all expect him to know what we love most and then expect him to comply with our wishes which obviously in most cases go totally wrong. And no wonder because if Valentine’s day movies and advertisements teaches us one thing, it is that the man have to think of it all by themselves…..
Now I happen to know a few men within a relationship that have this vey rare talent, but they are already taken for obvious reasons.
Some men just know that a huge amount of roses preferably combined with a bottle of bubbly will be the absolutely romantic gesture, one of my friends has such a boyfriend and whenever he makes an effort, (I think he is born really attentive) all of us girlfriends are looking quite jealous at whatever she gets!!
But again he is the exception to the rule ladies !
And then there are a lot of us, married to a joker, who will order a new part for his bike or car for Valentine and silly him seems to forget all about her…
I hope that their partners have access to their creditcard, so they can order whatever they like in the same price range in whatever he bought.
In some cases it might make him think twice to repeat that performance next year.
And then you have most of us, who either get something he might just have laying around or worse do not get anything, not even a card.
If you are in the last category, please remain calm, it is not that he does not love you, it is more a question that he feels too soppy in a Cardshop, trying to find you a card that tells you that he loves you. I mean honestly he already told you that last August at his mates wedding when you got all soppy !
If you want to test this, ask him to buy a card for his mum and see what he comes home with… so really nothing personally right!!
Ps if he does come home with a huge card with ribbons and balloons, I would highly suggest sending him back to her, he is obviously not ready for a mature relationship..
If however your mother in law sends him a Valentine card, give it to him and tell him what a lovely gesture it is and how thoughtful she is, such a loving gift….
Seeing as these things are probably send two days early, it might just click in his brain that he ought to get you one too…
If he gets you a highly inappropriate present, please do not panic, this happens to most of us and it does not, I repeat, does not, mean he does not love you.
It means that he was either
- Not into Valentine’s day, I mean be honest, it is thought up by stores right?
- Trying to survive this life, which sounds easy but definitely is not
- Never thought you of all people needed confirmation of his love through gifts
- Too busy repairing your washing machine, dishwasher of some other appliances
- The list can be endless…
And then to all those lovely loving women who just ploughed on and got nothing other than looking forward to a comfortable hug or a kiss, but most of them know that although it will not be anything else than that, they can always be sure that their partner will pick them up when they are down, will help when needed, will support her all the way!
And then you have this guy who is not really that into you, that he thinks you worth the effort, lose him, because actually he is not your efforts, not worth your energy! All you need is to listen to ALL your girl- and male friends who have been telling you exactly the same as I just did: SO PLEASE LISTEN AND LOSE THE GUY!
Now I have written this article lazily on a male/female relationship, because A) I am in one and B) it might well be the most common one and further more, I am utterly convinced that there is no difference in loving if the relationship is between same sexes or transgender or whatever.
I must be honest, I prefer my boyfriend asking me simply if I am happy with him, to anybunch of flowers every day, no perfume or diamond ring can equal this loving question, but I am but a simple person….
Have a great day and be careful out there !
