Last night I saw the movie of Napoleon and I came out rather confused, because mr Phoenix does obviously not understand the finesses of the French, nor had he read an awful lot about the brilliant rise (and fall) of the little Cosican nobody who brought himself to being the most brilliant strategist of his time, unto being The Emperor in perhaps the most self destructive era in French historie.
And none of that was actually shown, what was shown, was the brute Napoleon, ruled by his “sophisticated” mother, while falling pathetically and head over heels in love with a slut and who was responsable for the death of many French soldiers.
If there are any members left of that Family, they should sue mr Phoenix, actor and producer for making their forebear look like a complete farce!
Not showing his brilliance in battle, not showing his brilliance in everyday civil improvements, nor the fact that his family/friends were almost ruling Europe single handedly at one time.
No, all we saw the death and destruction of men and horses!
I am for one, was not impressed!
